Team Up for Nonprofits presents Gigs4Good featuring Hot Bodies in Motion and Luc & the Lovingtons benefiting The Service Board.

Come and experience a fun night of music for a cause with two of Seattle’s funkiest bands. The very hot right now Hot Bodies in Motion will be supported by Luc and The Lovingtons who are fresh off their tour with Jason Mraz, and Austin Jenkes and The First Call all to benefit The Service Board, at one of Seattle’s legendary live music venues, The Crocodile. Grab you tickets now as the last Gigs4Good benefit was a sellout!

The Service Board’s programs offer the positive space and education opportunities that will empower our youth to build strong community. TSB takes kids raised in the shadow of Mt. Rainier for their first trip to the mountains, exposes them to new ideas, foods and cultures and opens the door to new opportunities and ways of broadening their life path. Through a unique blend of adult mentors, service-learning projects, civic engagement, and snowboarding adventures, TSB builds a caring community that broadens visions and nurtures strengths. This Gigs4Good benefit will raise funds to cover the cost of transporting youth and mentors to the mountain this winter where they will build resilience and conquer fears. The goal is to raise $5,000 to subsidize the rental of seven buses that will safely transport participants to Summit at Snoqualmie, Stevens Pass and Crystal Mountain for Sunday riding.

Hot Bodies in Motion is a four piece groove machine, delivering their own brand of danceable indie blues rock and flooding dance floors with infectious grooves. Imagine a hybrid of Stevie Wonder & Stevie Ray, give or take a beard and some flannel. One local put it perfectly; “every musician in the band is a master of their instrument… I’ve never seen as many people in a crowd dancing and smiling as I have at an HBIM show.”

Luc & The Lovingtons are a World-Soul-Pop band based out of Seattle, Washington who have recently garnered international acclaim through their “Freedom Song” and their recent tour supporting Jason Mraz. A sought after group with contagious energy and warmth, The Lovingtons bring back the spirit of the days of Motown, with a stack of songs full of empowerment, uplift and joy. From Chile to West Africa, New York to New Orleans, the Lovingtons have continued to spread good vibrations, delivering music with a passion and sincerity that connects to the heart.

Austin Jenckes & The First Call is a band that captures you and compels you to stop and listen. Austin Jenckes is a regional artist that has played over 1,000 shows in the last five years and formed the complete band in the summer of 2010. They were recently featured at the 2011 NAMM show in Anaheim, California and are currently working on their first collaborative effort, self-titled “Austin Jenckes & The First Call”, which will be released nationally, May 2011.

Team Up for Nonprofits mission is to build capacity for nonprofit organizations by cultivating a new generation of engaged supporters through the power of music and social media. Our Gigs4Good benefits raise funds and awareness for the nonprofits we partner with and provide an entertaining and accessible opportunity for people to support organizations making a difference. With Team Up you buy the tickets, we bring the music, nonprofits get the money!

A huge thank you to The Crocodile for sponsoring this event. Without our sponsors Team up could not produce our Gigs4Good events so we hope you will support them in return.

Sasquatch Launch party February 6, 2011

The Sasquatch launch party was put on at the Showbox at the Market theater. The line up was simple, 2 Bands, 1 rap group and 1 comedian. Musical performances by The Thermals, Das Racist and Mad Rad kept the energy high as 1,000+ fans cheered. The evening was be hosted by comedian Todd Barry which provided some laughs during the set breaks. Sometimes when u go to a free show you don’t get too much, but not at this one.

The show opened with Dj Darwin who impressed the crowd with his techno/hop hop blends. Local fan favorite Mad Rad sonically blew everyone away sounding like a mix of hip hop, electro and 80′s rock. Das Racist had something sort of a Beastie Boy on speed vibe. Das Racist were so random they had the crowd wondering what they were going to next. Finally the Oregon based trio Thermals, filled the Theater with thier huge sound.

If this event was any marker as to what is to come we are in for a bumpy ride. Performers for this years Sasquatch festival were announced on the big screen. Groups like the Cold War Kids, Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse, Chormeo and Robyn just to name a few. For more line up info visit the Sasquatch blog or the official line up video

Golazo: 3 v 3 Soccer Tournament and Party

After experiencing the Golazo launch party back in November I felt like wanted to capture the adventure for my VNT readers. Luckily I found another opportunity with the Golazo 3v3 tournament last weekend.

The party kicked off in Capitol Hill (which is one of my favorite areas might I add) at the Golazo headquarters. The place was buzzing with energy. There were so many things going on one could have been overwhelmed. In one section people were gathered on stands cheering and supporting their favorite 3 on 3 soccer teams. In another section was a picture booth where people had an opportunity to click their own photos next to an amazing graffiti background. There was Xbox Kinect set up near the back wall where the video game literate and the not-so literate could play and enjoy controller – free gaming. Everywhere else there were people warming up and practicing there best tricks and footwork.

I liked that this was a event that all ages could experience. I personally enjoyed the open bar upstairs for the 21+. “Golazo and vodka, I’ll take two please, lol!” All the while I was dancing to the mixes by Dj Killa B and other DJ’s of the evening. I finished off the night with a scrumptious quesadilla provided by The Rancho Bravo Tacos truck. Surprisingly it was front door service in the Golazo headquarters.

    Que golazo!

Picture booth Photos can be view on the Golazo Facebook page.
